Having recently purchased an indoor golf simulator from electricspin.com, and having both a poker and a pool table in the office, I'm trying to think of a way to combine all 3 disciplines.
How about this for a start? The structure is simple. Golf and pool in the afternoon, Poker in the evening. Before the golf and poker starts, every player will be allocated with 15000 chips. Golf For every shot you take on the golf course, 200 chips will be deducted from your chip stack. So, say for instance you shoot a decent round of 35 (we're only going to play 9 holes on a par 70 simulated course on Tiger Woods 2006). This means that 7000 will be deducted from your initial 15000 stack leaving you with 5000 to start a game of poker. If you shoot a not so nice 45, 9000 will be deducted leaving you with the slightly handicapped 6000.. If you shoot over 60, you better start praying for some pocket rockets to come your way... Winner: 1000 chips for the player with the lowest golf score. 500 chips for the player with the second lowest golf score. Eagle / Birdie Bonus: Every eagle is 700 chips. Every birdie is 300 chips. Pin Seeker Bonus: 1000 chips to the player nearest the pin on a chosen par 3 hole. The ball has to finish on the green to count. Longest Drive Bonus: 1000 chips to the player with the longest drive on a chosen hole. Pool Whilst one group of 2 or 3 is going round the golf course, the rest of the group will be playing the pool part of the challenge. Every player plays each other once (this will mean 28 games of pool if there are 8 players!). We will play some of the games whilst others are playing the golf simulator. Hopefully by combining the two, so that the final round of golf finishes at about the same time as the final game of pool. Each player will recieve the following bonus / penalty for the pool part of the challenge: Win by 7-balls: 1000 chips to the winner / 1000 chips penalty for the loser 6-balls: 700 chips to the winner / 700 chips penalty for the loser 5-balls: 600 chips, etc 4-balls: 500 chips, etc 3-balls: 400 chips, etc 2-balls: 300 chips, etc 1-ball: 200 chips, etc Win on black: 100 chips, etc Every foul committed carries a penalty of 200 chips. Poker Once the golf and pool have finished, each player will start with the number of chips they've earned from those parts of the challenge. Prizes will be split 65% / 35%, with the buy-in being around £30. What does everyone think? Will this work? Is the golf and pool weighted correctly?

Golf and pool sounds fine ... but the poker bit sounds a bit dodgy! How about golf, then pool, and the biggest loser gets the drinks in at the local boozer!?

Sounds ok. What about if you're (like me) shite at golf... I might as well take a mulligan on each hole, which'll leave me with - 6600, then the pool will leave me with around -14400 after getting 7 balled in all 7 games plus a few fouls along the way... I reckon I might struggle with the poker then, even with my skills!!!
Perhaps those who are crap at either golf or pool (or both) could choose to sit one out with a predetermined amount of chips deducted? Fair play mate, you've been wanting to get this going for ages... like Woody said, maybe set it up as you've said and just run it, see how it goes... |

Hi all, just to clarify the reason for this thread.
I'm looking for feedback regarding the structure of the event, rather than whether people would like to attend or not. Once I'm happy with the structure I'll post it up as an event on the Bristol and South West poker group.
