Default should i battle through it?

basically the last 5 or 6 big ish games i have played in i have been properly sucked out to get eliminated - without doing too much wrong at all and its starting to make me ponder having a break from the poker world - but is that the best way to go??

its only silly things such as opponents hitting a 2 outer when i have slow played him well, or losing all in with 3 players left:A K VS A 4

only for a 4 on the river to hit!!!

things like this keep happening and i reckon the gods r against me!?

anyways rant over should i take a break or battle through

    what ya reckon?

if you're going into tournaments with a negative attitude and just waiting to take a bead beat, take a break. if not don't, whatever you do though read this article by Negreanu - it'll help click here
'I figured if I ever went broke at poker, it wouldn't be because my best wasn't good enough to keep me afloat. It'd be because my worst was bad enough to sink me.'

Post a few of your hands on here with your actions pre flop, post flop, on the turn and the river.

Maybe we could give you some tips or advice etc.

On a bit of a poker downer myself at the moment - not getting much chance to play, and when I do play I thik my attitude is all wrong. Will try and post more details tomorrow so you lot can point out the error (s) of my ways.

From what you have said it looks like you are getting your chips in at the right time and then getting sucked out on, although its frustrating, it cant happen every time, the odds are in your favour for a reason and the best hand doesnt win everytime.

You mention slow playing, this can be a great tactic when it works but its a risky way of getting more chips from a hand, there is always the chance that you are giving people a chance to get a better hand than you have. Would be interested in finding out what hands you are slow playing.

Taking a break is a good idea if you plan to use the break to study poker and change your game a bit, if not and you think your game is good and you are just getting unlucky then a break shouldnt make that much difference.

to be honest tryin to think of them.......

ill ask u this though - would u call or fold this??

Dann (me) 7000 chips - roughly
    Simon 3000 chips - roughly
    Faz 5000 chips roughly

im on the button blinds are 150/300 three players left

    SB - SIMON, BB FAZ
    HOLE CARDS

    Dann A 5
    Simon?
    Faz?

    I Raised to 1200
    Simon goes all in (3000)
    Faz raises all in (5000)

    now what would u do???

i folded and simon turned over A 4 and Faz turned over K Q

    and simons Ace high won.

would anyone have called that - i noticed simons all in was weak, but didnt wanna risk my whole tourny by clashing with both with a weak A???

Another hand that went wrong for me:

5 players in all with about 3k in chips (just started) Blinds at 30/60

    Faz UTG
    Miz UTG + 1
    Rich Button
    Dann (me) SB
    Simon BB

    Hole Cards

    Dann 8 8

    Faz raises to 180
    Miz Folds
    Rich Calls
Dann re-raises to 360 (i did this to represent a stronger hand - semi bluff?)
    Simon Calls
    Faz folds
    Rich Calls

    3 players

    Flop

    8 10 K

    Dann checks
    Simon Bets 200
    Rich Calls 200
    Dann raises to 800
    Simon calls 800
    Rich folds

    turn:
    8 10 K 3

    Dann bets 800
    Simon raises all in

    WHAT DO U DO HERE??
my mind set was does he have that beats me other than better trips??
is he drawing?? what too, thought i outpriced his draws on the flop so its shouldnt be a draw?? a straight draw from the flop maybe?? again it has to be a gut straight?? so surely he is out priced??

i call leaving me with 500 chips (as i said the totals werent exactly right)

    river 4

    Dann shows trip 8s ( 8 8 8 , K 10 )
    simon shows Flush ( 3 4 8 9 J )
    Si's hole cards were J 9

Now did my reraise preflop nopt make him think maybe J 9 is shit.....maybe he thought the Q gutshot and runner runner was good enough to call my bets with - who knows.

he later knocked me out in third when his A4 Bt my AK

anyways did i play these two hands right or wrong???

Looking at it you didnt do much wrong in either hand, it does look like you are playing with some maniacs though, might want to change them instead.
