$1/$2 NL, 10 handed. Haven't been at the table long so no reads on anyone.
Dealt TT in MP, 1 limper to me and I make it $8, folded round to the limper who calls. Flop comes A Q T with 2 hearts, he checks and I bet $12, he calls. Turn is an offsuit 8, he checks and I bet $28, he calls. River is a 9 and he leads out for $54, call or fold?
With my limited experience of cash games here is my opinion:
When playing TT Iam looking for one of two ideal flops, the first being three under cards and the second hitting trips! With two hearts on board and possible drawing opportunities... its a tough one!
I would put him on the straight or the flush and i would fold!!![]()
I might call out of stubborness. The way the hand has gone the other player could easily just be representing the Jack. The only thing that worries me is the bet of 54 is about half the pot, if you are going to bluff this you would want to bet a lot more.
If Im playing well, I fold, if im not, im calling![]()
I Call. I don't think it's massivly +ev but still +ev and it's better than folding.
I folded and then hated it afterwards. I think this was a pretty easy call in hindsight getting about 2 to 1, it could easily be a busted flush draw or 2 pair enough of the time to make it profitable. The board was just too bluffable to assume he had a hand.
Had another river decision shortly afterwards, same game:
UTG made it $6, MP called and I called with 89
in LP, $21 in the pot. Flop comes 7 T J with 2 spades, checked to me and I bet $14, UTG folds and MP calls. Turn is an offsuit 5, MP checks and I bet $24, he calls. River is another T, he checks and I bet $30, he makes it $75 and I call, he has JJ. I don't see how I can fold here for $45 into a $200 pot, but does anyone check behind on the river here?
Looking back at it the way he played it looks like a big draw to me making a value bet fairly pointless. He took a pretty big risk playing JJ that passively on a draw heavy board though IMO, but the check on the end worked out well for him.
With the cards turned up he played the pot perfectly, however the cards weren't face up and he played the hand bad.Originally Posted by FirePhil
You played the hand good, I think I bet more on the turn though. Betting the river against this guy is good i thinks. Yes he will (probably) fold his draws but he might take this line (up until the river) with top pair or second pair and it's hard to put him on a set or a flopped two pair. I think we find him with a shitty made hand a lot, a flush/straigt draw a fair amount and two pair/set, as he had here, very infreqently.
2 check calls. He could of had JK, especially if he's limped early before the pot. Its a close call and betting half the pot looked like it wasn't a bluff! But, as someone else said, he could of had AQ and thought his 2 pair was best!
