Not an expert as such but I do make a good effort of it.

Hi/Lo is a whole new quandry in its own, really you should be starting of with a hand which can 'scoop' both the high and lo pots. Therefore THE best starting hand would be A2AK (double suited) ... pre-flop raising in OH8 is common online but is not really suitable for a full table I usually do it to try and get someone HU. Im usually looking for double suited / pairs / lo or high connectors (middle connectors are bad as your are normally drawing to the 'idoit' end of a str / but most importantly of all if your a beginner dont leave home without an Ace and a lo card A2, A3, A4... or if your feeling fruity 23, 24... these 'act' as safety nets when your drawing to a hi with a made lo hand or nut lo draw.

I have a few books on the subject which I will post the titles of soon as I can rummage them out.

If you fancy a game I would start at micro level cash or $5 SnG's. I'm always available for a good gas about this.... and if you fancy a 'live' home game and can get to Acton I know a gr8 game for £10 freezeout with a bunch of fellow OH8 worshippers / trainees. With a joyfull round of dealers choice late into the night.... we even play the filthy game of Hold'em for one round....

Good luck.. tis a great game to get away from HoldEm ...

ps.. POT LIMIT POT LIMIT POT LIMIT.....

pps... Limit is only really good for large MTT's

ppps... I did say good luck didnt i

you wouldnt believe how badly i wanted that 2 of spades to hit to give me a steel wheel, when the 2 of diamonds came i cant describe how good it feels to be drawing for the best hand possible but still being able to bet heavy on the nut low hand

any comments on how i played it would be welcomed as i have a feeling i should have raised preflop and bet the flop too

i love omaha hi low but it took me a while to learn the game, when u sit at ten seater tables there is always a couple of nutters who dont know what a good hand is so they will bang loads of chips in pre flop. my advise would be play slow at first find those weak players and hit em hard the good players play few hands but win big keep well away !

A good time to raise preflop in this game is in LP holding 4 high cards in a multi limped pot. The multiple limping means there is a good chance that all the low cards have been dealt and the flop is more likely to have high cards, hitting your hand hard giving you the chance to scoop with no low hand possible.

A while ago I was very drunk indeed and accidently put myself into a PLO H/l SNG, having no real idea how to play, I won it.
