The winner of the Irish Poker Open, Vincent Mellin, had to horribly bad-beat someone on the way to the title by hitting a 2-outer on the river.
The man he beat, Rumit Somaiya, was understandably disappointed. Vincent felt pretty bad about the beat and revealed that he was so confident that he (Vincent) was going to win the title that he'd bet €100 at 250-1 to do so. So, to make up for the bad beat, he gave Rumit the betting slip and, of course, went on to win the tourney. Rumit picked up €25,000 for his bad beat. Not only that but he also had a share of the second placed finisher! Last edited by Gus Mango Fish : 20th April 2006 at 04:34 AM. |
