Does any one know the legalities of setting up a tournament either at home, or in my local pub, it ouwld probably only be a small stakes one but cannot find any info on the net. Any help or experience would be welcome.
as far as i'm aware a home game is perfectly legal but a pub game isnt due to being licenced premises, a lot of pubs do run games but they are usually quiet places with just regulars and or have function rooms away from the public, unless your playing for fun which is totally legal anywhere ie: hide the money, use chips and dont advertise!!!
Thanks for the advice, I have heard of so called "charity Games" where the winners still get a prize but a healthy donation goes to charity, have you come across these? Obviously there would be a donation not just used as a front to a game.
I cant say ive played at any Real charity games but have been to a few cash games in licenced houes!! the charity thing tends more to be a joke/excuse should any unexpected heat drop in!! but yes it ileagal unless you have a casino license!! but keep it quite and you shouldnt have to much trouble![]()
