    Default Home Games

A few weeks ago my friends and I enjoyed our third home game.

The number of players has varied from 6 in the first game, to 10 in the second and 8 in the third. But we have only had 10 different players.

4 of us play regularly online, the others only play at the home game.

We have taken it in turns so far to host the game, it was my turn first.

We have had a few disputes concerning rules, starting chips and blind structures etc. (The worst was the second game, where some of the arguments got rather heated, but on that occasion the beer was fairly flowing and I think it got the better of us).

We try and squeeze a few games into the night, so that its not one chance and out, and we a trying to strike a balance between making it deep stacked enough to enable players to have a decent go at playing 'properly' without it going all night.
We currently start with 800 chips and start the blinds at 5/10, and go up every 20 mins. We cap the blinds at 300/600 so theres a bit of play at the end of the game (6400 chips in play)

Up until last weekend it was my only experience of a home game, when i wnet to another friend's house. All the people invited play online regularly and a few have quite a bit of live experience. We played a double chance freezeout - we had 1500 chips with the option of the extra 1500 at any time up the end of the first hour.
Blinds started at 5/10 and rose every 15 mins (ish).
At heads up the blinds were 500/1000.

Have finally got to the point of this email!!

Any one else have a regular home game? and in your experiences what starting stack and blind structures work best?

We are not particularly keen on doing rebuys due to the complications it introduces.

Firstly IMO squeezing two games into one night isnt the best thing to do!!

I have found a nice little formula that works for 8-10 players....

10,000 chips each - Either through a deepstack freezeout where everyone gets there chips at the start or a double chance freezeout - where you get 5000 starting chips and the other 5000 when you have no chips or under 500 left... but the double chance only lasts for the first 2 hours, if you havnt used your double chance you get it as a automatic topup.......

    The blinds as follows:

    25/50
    50/100
    75/150
    100/200
    150/300
200/400 (End of Double chance period)
    250/500
    300/600
    400/800
    500/1000
    600/1200
    800/1600
    1000/2000
    1200/2400
    1500/3000

And ALL go up every 20minutes..... the game will last about 4 hours.

    Hope this helps

Looks like great minds think alike!

Thanks for the input, got another one coming up next week, and will be prosing we give the double chance a whirl.

I think we like to try and squeeze a couple of games in as we are a friendly bunch and we don't want some one's night to be over after 10mins - although i reckon the double chance will eliminate this to a certain extent.

Live in North Staffs - so am a fair way from those meetups, but will take a look at the site.

Will let you know how we go on

    thanks
