Default getting to #1 in a tourney

does anyone else find it hard to nail the last person in a tourney?

i have had 11000 chips with them on 1-2000, and swapped positions so many times..

can only seem to get 2nd or 3rd in these online tourneys.. anyone got any advice that isn't blatently obvious? maybe its just a matter of time, have played about 8 tourneys and placed in 4 [3rds and 2nds!]

heads up play is really more about the betting than the actual cards...lots of bluffing and aggression seems to be the best way....most hands in heads up dont make a pair so high cards are more important and low pocket pairs are stronger than in a normal game....if the poker site you use has a play money heads up game then get a friend to practice with you and both show cards at the end of each hand to get an idea of what hands are worth and get more experience

could be luck of the draw.
II tend to fold a few hands on Sb, give the impression you are playing tight, then keep raising .

I find playing aggresive in heads up is the way to go, but it is each to his own.

sometimes aggresiveness does not work, then i will sit and play a great hand and wait for the raises call them and put them all in after the river. Works in more cases than not for me.

it is trial and error and every game is different depending on opponent.

Agressive play is the only way to win, even if youve got 2 3 youve got to make your opponent think you have AA

Wont argue with that, but sometimes you want them to think you have 23 when you have aa.
