Occasionally I come across players who when it is their turn to post the big blind will instead sit out and then post their missed blind after the button has passed.
They gain an advantage from having better position when they are forced to put money in the pot but the disadvantage is they have to post their binds more frequently (every 7 hands rather than every 10). It seems like these players are trying to be clever but I'm sure that they are actually costing themselves money by posting more frequently as a result of missing the hands when they are sitting out. They are posting 10.7 big bets per 100 hands rather than 7.5, so their improved position when posting would have to make them 3.2BB/100 to counter this, something which seems almost impossible when the total profit of a very good player will only be about 10BB/100. Has anyone else seen people doing this? What do you think their reasoning for it is? N.B. This is in NL holdem games, in limit holdem even the best players would struggle to win enough to make up for the extra blinds posted. |

I have never noticed this, although it is an interesting concept....... in your opinion (forgetting the maths) do you think they are getting an advantage by doing this?

No I don't. You lose your turn to act last pre-flop and you have to put your missed small blind in as dead money.
To be honest the maths is the main reason but I still don't think it's worthwhile. |

I have never seen anyone do this myself. I can't think of any advantage that it really gets them either. Idiots I reckon
