Can anyone please tell me what is the best poker book to buy to improve my game. I have recently read Super System 1 but to be honest his aggresive way of playing doesnt really suit me. I tried playing this way and yes I have had a few success but I dont feel comfortable with it. I have heard Harringtons it a good book which is on my Christmas list but can anyone suggested any others?
I think that Harrington is supposed to be a good one, though I haven't read it yet. I would advise not to get Hellmuth's book though. It's okay but I expected more from him really. He spends most of it talking about himself.

I like this answer to a poker test in the Harringtons book
Answer
It costs you $5000 to see a pot of of almost $20000. Those are excellent odds. Of course Player F knows that and he gave you those odds anyway, so youre probably behind. But (and this is my favourite bit) just in case i would call anyway
Action:You call, and Player F shows A-8 and wins with a pair of 8's
Nice logic there Dan.
Now I'm not one to criticise an actual winner of the WSOP, but that piece of thinking made me laugh out loud. If you are good enough to know you are behind, why call?
My advice is to pick up bits and pieces from a few books rather than taking one book as gospel above all others.
I have read something similar elsewhere.Originally Posted by Top Pair Ace Kicker

Good advice. Even if you only take one thing away with you from the worst poker book you have read it's still money well spent IMO.Originally Posted by Top Pair Ace Kicker

Anyone dared to read Texas Holdem Odds by Catalin Barboianu?
It claims to be a full mathematical analysis of the game and allows you to understand calculating odds for all situations. Would like to hear how bearable it is before buying?
