hi
i would be intrested to hear from people on wether rebuys or freezeouts are the prefered option. I cant get along with re-buys myself as it seems to be about how much you have in the pocket rather than what cards you have. Am i in the minority or majority??
got to agree with you, i prefer freezeouts and because of this would seem to be in the minority, the casinos near me have plenty of rebuy tournaments running through out the week and i think one freezeout a month.
Surely if you play in a rebuy situation you can fleece the rich and reckless. Is it always the wedged that win? Not in the games that I have played. I think re-buys are nearer the real deal and freezeouts are OK - better than doing the dishes - but do not carry the risk and fear factor of buying one last re-buy that means there is no petrol for the car if you lose it. Its akin to clay pigeon shooting - no squaking and no blood and guts.
Freezeouts by a mile. In my opinion this is Texas NL Holdem in it's best format. A decent starting stack of chips is essential though or it becomes a crap shoot after a few rounds of the table. Freezeouts offer the chance to pit your skill rather than take a gamble knowing you can buy another lot of chips if your gamble goes wrong
Freezout is definately the way to go.
As much as I love the idea of playing against someone rich and dumb enough to just keep rebuying and throwing it all for me - that's not usually what I've seen to happen in rebuy situations. The thing is with all that extra money floating around - unless you're the one holding it, someone else's stack would've grown significantly - and you find yourself shortstacked relative to the rest of the field.
Victory - I think that is my point. If the money has been coming in and the chips going to someone else - and that someone else is not you - then the reason you like freezouts is more about limiting risk than it is about maximising the win. I.E more about not gambling than it is about gambling. Its like the difference between paying your internet connection to play on the Practice tables or paying it to get to the money games - what anyone likes is a state of mind.
