Default Poker chips and where to buy them?

    Hi guys.

I'm looking to buy a set of chips for my brother as a gift. He's relatively new to poker so I don't want to waste money on something he may not stick with. Conversely I don't want to buy something that looks cheap and is rubbish to play with.

I've been looking a some of the chip sets on ebay. The Dice chips seem cheap but look a bit plastic. I've also been looking at some Steel centred chips on there.

So where else do some of you people buy your chips from? I've been looking at some of the UK sites and to be honest have been generally underwhelmed by the choice and the cost of many.

Conversely a lot of the US sites have great choices and are very cheap in comparison. The problem being the cost of shipping becomes prohibitive.

Any suggestions and help would be much appreciated.

Apologies if this post is in the wrong place.

    Thanks

Ignore the fact that it says they are reduced from £299.99 as that would be a ridiculous price to pay for them. When I bought mine they were £35+£6 p&p and for that price I was very happy with them.

If you have a choice I think it's always best to go for chips that do not have numbered values on. That way you can change how much each chip is worth from game to game.

As for the quality, they are perfectly fine to play with. They have a nice weight to them and make satisfying clink noises when stacking them
    I 'll take a look.

    Thanks.

yeah, I noticed the sports hq site a while back

those "reduced from" prices are a bit silly though!!

www.pokershopping.co.uk and www.pokeroutlet.co.uk are another couple

both have a good a fairly good selection of numbered and unnumbered chips

Mango's spot on about the blank rather than numbered chips. Gives you much more flexibility.
