backfire
Ok, I'm new to this site, so to give you a general view of some of my play at the table, I give people the impression of being a very loose and reckless player, but I am very tight. I find this gives me an advantage as people are more tempted to call my raises or bets with lesser hands than they should.
A couple of days ago I was in an MTT with 21 people. 1st hand I am dealt is A-A. I'm in 1st position and raise to 300 (blinds are 25/50). it's folded round to the BB who calls. He checks the flop of 3-K-8. I bet 500, he calls. Turn comes 10. He checks, I bet 1000, he calls. The river comes Q. He checks, I go all-in for another 2200, he calls. At this point I know I am beaten, the only 2 cards I didn't want to see were a Q, or a J, as I put him on K-Q, or K-J. And sure enough he turns over K-Q. Afterwards, he says he was only calling me because I bluffed so much in the last game (I think I made him fold 3 hands in a row, and showed him all of them). Showing some cards is part of my game, but in this case it backfired on me as he managed to hit 2 pair. I think I should have gone all in on the turn, then if he did call me, at least it wouldn't have been my fault I lost the hand!
My game lasted about 45 seconds, nevermind eh?

Hello mr Terminator.
I think acting in poker is absolutely necessary, I like to act like a rock in most of the live games I play, but in reality I like to steal steal steal and only ever show the hands that portray the rock like image.
I never show bluffs as you only succeed in winding up other players, and i find its a case of reducing the effectiveness of any future bluff attempts.
When Im playing online if anyone shows me a hand they have won with a bluff i just type "woooo hooo" or "congratulations" in the chat box. Then just wait for a decent hand and check raise or check call any future hands.
