Having a interesting discussion on the bristol meetup on rebuy's - be interested to here what everyone else thinks.
I like Rebuy's - Its what I am used to playing at Casino's and Poker clubs.
I reckon about 70% of poker tourneys are rebuy's so you need too be able to play rebuys and freezouts if you want to be a good poker player.
A better way too look at it is that all tourneys are freezouts and its just a case of being able to handle/afford the rebuy stage. A lot of players are intimidated by rebuy's but they do make a big prizepool and encourage play early on rather than everybody conserving their chips till the blinds get big. You also get to see who the big bluffers are early on and its so much easier to call a loose player when you saw him go all in with 8/4 suited during the rebuy period. Yes casino games do tend to turn into complete nightmares with players going all in virtually every hand and rebuying 10+ times - But I like to think I am better than them and can play with a budget of 3 rebuy's (which i normally do) and have only once had to use all 3 so far! The best i have done is at the Triangle with 1 $20 buy in lasted me all the way to 2nd place!
I am a mercenary and I do want as much in the prizepool as possible - I know i would rather have X 20 return than just X8 - wouldn't you? I do play poker for fun but mainly to try and make as much as i can from my investment -
Just being cheeky but I bet you all know what i mean!
