    Default Realistic Bankroll for $4/8

Just paid a visit to the poker room at my new local casino in Vancouver (bit bigger than the triangle in Bristol!)

There was about 20 tables of poker being played at around 6pm which was pretty exciting. After to speaking to the card room manager I was disappointed to find out they were playing $4/8 limit hold em (which is pretty much 2/4 quid) and the minimum buy in was $40.

Being on a tight budget until i find a decent job and being s**t at limit hold em i decided to give it a miss.

Just out of interest what would a reasonable buy in be for 4/8? Obvioulsy 40 is a joke, i was thinking along the lines of 200 but that would probably still be pushing it - there was some characters with monster stacks in front of them!

Why do they have to play limit here? Wierd how cash games in USA/Canada are almost all limit but pot limit is played much more in the UK. Heres to finding a decent NL/PL tournament soon!

Rounders play limit for "a living".

Buy in for about 20bb. That should be good for a session. Adjust this figure depending on how loose/tight the table is.

    5xBB IS a joke.

I'd say 20xBB would want to be your absolute minimum.

The usual recommendation is that you buy-in for a single session for at least 25-30 times the Big Bet, so $200-$240 would be the recommended minimum for a $4/$8 game, but I'd probably be more comfortable with $400 behind me (50xBB).
