Thunderball is my favourite lotto game; and since they introduced a prize of £3 for matching the Thunderball only in May this year, I came up with a play strategy to take advantage of this prize level.
Thunderball
I play 3 Thunderball numbers on multiples of 3 lines, usually 18, 24 or 39 lines. Each Thunderball is played an equal number of times.
Therefore I have a 3/14 or 21.4% chance of winning back exactly all my bets if I match the Thunderball only. I think that's an acceptable odd.
Main Numbers
I play a selection of 11 numbers, where I select 6 numbers to apply a full wheel (= 6 lines) and a further 6 or 12 lines on the entire 11 numbers but each line must contain at least 1 number from the other 5 numbers not in the full wheel.
The other 28 numbers outside the 11-number selection will have to fit into another 6 lines.
My play statistics
I have played 38 games up to last Saturday using the above strategy:
The 28.9% T/B hit rate (over 38 games) is way above the expected 21.4%.
Overall win rate for 54 games (including earlier games played differently) is 104.9% - trying hard to hang on to my winning advantage from a few good wins of 4 and 4+1.

Hi,interesting strategy ! Can you expand on how you choose your numbers and give an example of it,line by line please.
I play the Irish lotto in the bookies, play 26p for each playslip at 1p per bet and I'm wondering if I can adopt this strategy across lots of betting slips ? If I get 5 numbers on a winning slip,I'll receive £1392 for my 26p.
Obviously, the thunderball number is not important and I'm intersested in your main mumber strategy.
Thanks
Hi catman,
As I don't believe lottery numbers can be predicted, therefore I use a random number generator (RNG) to throw out a full set of 39 numbers, then use the first 11 numbers for my main bets. Retain the sequence order of the 11 numbers (don't sort them into ascending orders).
From the 11 numbers selected, I conveniently nominate the first 6 numbers for my full wheel of 6 lines (5 from 6). I then feed all 11 numbers into an RNG that is either capable of selecting 5 from the 11 numbers put in, or randomise all 11 numbers and I simply make 2 lines of 5 numbers, ignoring the last 11th number. I keep repeating the process until I have the required number of lines, checking to make sure each line contains at least 1 number from the remaining 5 numbers outside the 6-number full wheel.
Recently I moved the 6-number full wheel to near the middle of the 11-number selection, and use random pairings to match blocks of 2 and 3 numbers from the 11-number spectrum for each line of 5 numbers.
I think you get the idea of my method of selecting numbers; basically they're random, and the main bets are confined to the 11 numbers, within which I further divide into 6 and 5 numbers, betting a full-wheel on 6 and betting many lines on all the others.
Does it work ? Answer: No! not yet. The winning numbers stubbornly refused to land in my 11,13 or 14-number selections for all the National Lotto games I played.
Pick 1,2,3,4,5 Games
I have just recently started to play these games online with a well known bookmakers.
So far I have just one strategy, and that's to play full-cover on a random selection of 5 or 6 numbers.
A 5-number full cover requires 31 lines to cover all possible combinations of pick 1,2,3,4,5.
A 6-number full cover requires 62 lines; 7-number full cover needs 119 lines.
My first win was based on the Irish 6/45 lotto main draw (6 balls) where I matched 3 in a 6-number full cover, playing the minimum 10p per line, £6.20 bet returned £75.45 ! If I had matched 4, the return would have been £914.90 and match 5 £13,883
Excellent odds.![]()
Thanks Spot,I play on the Irish Lotto at a bookmakers at 1p per line.I have adopted a wheeling strategy that covers 20 numbers with a guaranteed 2if2 and 3if6 win. This costs 16 bets at 26p.I had a return of a treble at 575/1 and 4 doubles at 52/1 last week by using each line of 5 numbers in the full perm on the betting slip of 26 bets at 1p.
I'm looking at utilising other wheels with this betting.
You can do better than using a Random Number Generator.
You should play combinations that are not often chosen by players.
For example for tonight Euromillions draw, avoid numbers 14, 10, 34, 44, 8 : many players will choose them because they didn't appear for a long time.
Rare combination = less winners = higher prizes
What do you think about this strategy ?
