Lightbulb Daily Play - Full perm outlay vs returns

Does anyone think the UK Daily Play lotto has a fair chance of returning a profit if you play a full perm of 7 from 8 or 9 numbers everyday for say, two weeks ?

    Here is my analysis:

    Full perm of 7 from 8 = 8 lines, £8 per day

    Win 0 numbers = 8 free tokens.
    Win 1 number = 1 free tokens.
    Win 2 or 3 numbers = lose £8.
    Win 4 numbers = 4 x £5 = £20.
    Win 5 numbers = 3x£30 + 5x£5 = £115.
    Win 6 numbers = 2x£300 + 6x£30 = £780

    Full perm of 7 from 9 = 36 lines, £36 per day:

    Win 0 numbers = 36 free tokens.
    Win 1 number = 8 free tokens.
    Win 2 numbers = 1 free token.
    Win 3 numbers = lose £36.
    Win 4 numbers = 10 x £5 = £50.
    Win 5 numbers = 6x£30 + 16x£5 = £260.
    Win 6 numbers = 3x£300 + 18X£30 + 15x£5 = £1,515

With only 27 numbers, you get a better coverage than the 6/49 lotto.

I've tried it for just over a week with one win4 and some free tokens; still waiting for the 5-number win.

After over 2 weeks of daily play using different random selections of 8 or 9 numbers each day, I only achieved winning 4 numbers twice and no hits on any numbers once, where I received tokens to play for free the next day.

There were many hits of 3 numbers; I expect on average to hit just 2 numbers. If I hit 5 numbers within the next week or so (a payout of £115), I will still end up with a profit.

Basically I'm covering 29.6% to 33.3% of the 27 numbers, and hoping for a 5-number win once every two weeks.

On a plus side, I've been using a similar approach for Thunderball games, playing full permutaton of 5 from 7 = 21 lines and 3 T/B numbers repeating in cycle for the last three weeks, I managed to hit 4 + 1 with a total payout of £640.

"permutations" I guess...back-test at intervals in past game history to see how your numbers would have done.

    many abbreviated wheels here:

    Hi,

Sorry for late response; have not visited this forum for a while.

I got used to saying full-permutation as it was commonly used in football pools; it's actually the same as a full-wheel lottery system where every possible combination (numbers in no particular order, therefore no duplicated lines) for a selection of numbers are played.

For example, a full wheel for a selection of 7 numbers in the 6/49 main lotto game is 7 lines of 6 numbers; a selection of 8 numbers will generate 28 lines of 6 numbers...

As for my Daily Play system, having played everyday for over 10 weeks, I now have some meaningfull actual results and statistics.

I have settled on a system of using a number randomiser (not a RNG) to randomise all 27 numbers, and betting heavy on the first 14 numbers and bet lightly on the remaining 13 numbers (I play 2 lines covering all 13 numbers at least once, and play 6 to 10 lines on the first 14 numbers).

The chances of winning prizes would therefore depend on how the 7 winning numbers fall into either one or both groups of numbers.

So far, only once where all 7 winning numbers fell in the 14-number group, but I only won 2 lines of 5 numbers and 1 line of 4 (£67) because I did not play a full wheel of 7 from 14 (which would cost £3,432!).

About five occasions where 6 winning numbers were caught by the 14-number selection, each time with a win of about £20 to £40.

A dozen times with 5 winning numbers, but sometimes with no win at all.

Large majority of results are 3 or 4 winning numbers in the main group.

However here is the interesting part: I won over £30 a few times when only 1 or 2 winning numbers fell in the 14-number selection (where I bet heavy), but I won with the other 2 lines covering the remaining 13 numbers where 5 or 6 winning numbers were caught. The number of £1 token or freeplay for hitting zero winning numbers also added up.

The bottomline is that I have only won back 33% of my total bets so far. It could change if I hit a 6-number win of £300 or better still, the top prize of £30k.

    Cool

hiya Spot, cool...have you tried back-testing random picks from your pool, alongside your usual sets?

so your Daily Play lotto is a 6/27 game?

    cheers!

The UK Daily Play is a 7/27 lottery game with fixed prizes starting with 4 winning numbers at £5, 5 wins £30, 6 wins £300 and top prize £30,000 for 7 wins. A line with no winning number wins a token (online account) or a lucky pick for playslip entry

I do make a quick check on past entries with each day's results, but so far no match on 7 winning numbers from any day.

After 13 weeks of play, the winning percentage is 35% of outlay; but still no hit on 6 and 7 numbers. My quest for a top prize continues.

Thank you blitzed, I've bookmarked the webpage.

    My Daily Play update
Last week I used a different number randomizer hoping for a change of luck, and resumed playing a full wheel of 7 from 8 plus another 6 lines covering a further 6 numbers combined with the 8 numbers from the full wheel.

Started off well in the first 2 days winning 5 numbers and then it was downhill for the rest of the week. The worst possible result is matching just 3 numbers in my 14-number selection, and it happened in 4 consecutive days. I call that a losing streak.

hiya Spot, you are most welcome.

also try these links in the sidebar menu:
    My Quick Picks!
    Lotto Matrix Wheel

people report having goodluck after putting their number pool into those lottery web-apps.

also on the main Pick Lottery Numbers page, look under Lottery Wheel Links in the main body of the page...the 2nd link there goes to an excellent wheel site, with Pick 7 Wheels in it's sidebar.

on that site's page, select a wheel and it displays precise info, coverage info & conditional percent probabilities, and number distribution frequency through the wheel.

    cheers!
