    Default Losing odds

    Folks,

Myself and some old colleagues set up a lottery syndicate a few months ago. We have one line each week on the Wednesday lotto, one on the Friday Euromillions, and one on the Saturday lotto (so that 3 lines per week, total weekly cost £4). Same numbers every draw.

After 58 draws we have not won a single penny!

Could somebody with a mathematical bent tell me the odds of not winning anything after 58 draws (about 40 on the Lotto and 18 on the Euromillions)?

    Thanks,

    Cath

Really you would be much better off combining your money and getting 4 lines on one individual draw each week, I would also suggest pairing the number combinations in line with what is hot and what's not.
If you could persuade your colleagues to go up one peg and get to 8 pounds per week, you could essentially cover 48/49 numbers in each draw and therefore you'd be real unlucky to keep only hitting one number per line.
To increase the odds of winning that little bit further check out lotto-systems.co.uk site and look at the pairings tables, appearance frequency charts and unused numbers tables. This should give you some more ideas.
    cheers

Ended up working this out myself....the odds of winning anything on the National Lottery are about 1 in 54, and on the Euromillions is about 1 in 24.

Consequently the odds of playing 40 Lottery and 20 Euromillions with no win at all is around 10%.

    Hi

With that system you are completly in the lucky`s hand.
The research on this matters try to reduce our dependecy on luck, knowing however that is impossible to avoid it completely.
I have an ongoing study that weekly produces from 5 Main numbers to 35 main numbers predictions. And in Lucky stars from 2 to 6. If you choose de 35 Main number`s option and the 5 or 6 Lucky star`s option you will have on average 1 prize for month or better.
However in this case you have to put 7 lines (7x5=35) every week but probably you will loose less than in the actual system. More: choosing the 35 option you will be exposed to 5 hits about 20 to 25 times in a year .
That study try to identify the oddiest numbers to be drawn each week.

For more details you can ask me on rentap@sapo.pt

If you want a guide that shows you the best way to pick your numbers, goto this site sandavier.co.uk, I downloaded a copy myself for a £1. Its called the lottery bible; they also give there predictions for all the draws run by camelot and the Euro, New York 6 number draw, Irish, Georgia powerball and Mega millions draws. They don't charge you for thier predictions.
