Might be alright, but isn't 50pounds a little low? then again, It might be able to attract quite a bit of people, just see how it goes for a few weeks.
Hello all
I am currently helping a run down pub to get back on it's feet, and have suggested an open the box game.
The idea being that I have 42 boxes, with three of them containing £50, and £30, £10. All the other boxes will contain £1.
People would pay £1 for a ticket that will be drawn on a weekly basis, and ticket drawn will get chance to open one of the boxes. (Once the box is opened it will become 'void' until the 1st prize is won.
I propose to put up the prize money then give the pub 20% of ticket sales, split 30% ticket sales equally into the three boxes (Thus accumilating the prize money), and I will keep 50%. Once the box that started at £50 is opened then all the boxes that have been opened will be reclosed and £1 will again be added.
I have written an agreement that states the pub will be responsable for any licence that may be needed but I need to know if there are further obligations on myself.
Thanks all

Bearing in mind the season of the year, you can add drinks to the box drawing fun, as well as some party time.
isnt 42 boxes large number of boxes to have? i mean where u gonna put em all??
your prob best just scrapping the boxes with £1 in n just have say 3 boxes with £1 £40 n say £75 n then you get everyone to enter over a week n then just give 3 the first 3 drawn the chance to open a box.
dont put hamsters in here... they dont likes.
hmm...
Confucius say "man who know wombat know more than stupid looking monkey"
Confucius also say "man who know Kebab has 60 inch waist"
Confucius finally add "man may deal, but man may not 'know' deal"
Dude 50% seems a little harsh... Its hardly rocket science, or the hard work of fitting a full central heating system in, is it?
I would save a tidy 30% for yourself, and give 40% to the pub, or juggle the %'s around a little bit. You say your offering to help out a 'run down pub' but in my opinion (only from your post) it seems you are only after lining your own pockets priority.
