I can list what lottery combination has not been bought in less than 5 minutes
using UNIX sort, diff and grep commands by comparing all 13,983,816 (for 6/49) combinations in a file with testing files that contains all the virtual lottery sales. Let the lottery machine to drop out balls that the lottery company wants is easier trick than a little magician. There is almost one hour gap between sales close and lottery machine start working.... In history there was lots of times that almost three times of tickets more than all the 13,983,816 (for 6/49) combinations but there was still nobody hit, this something like 99.9999999% possibility has been covered, how could the machine become so lucky? I don't believe it, and even more the next time, almost 4 times tickets of 13,983,816 been sold, still nobody win, why? I don't know, I do know that lottery company has their own powerful IT department. |

Well, I have to say it looks a bit dodgy doesn't it? Your stats seem to reach an obvious conclusion. But surely even the lottery's ball selection system is randomly tested and varified by gaming/gambling standards to confirm that it IS a completely random selection?
Also you must admit that if 13,000,000 tickets are purchased, it doesn't mean that there are 13,000,000 different number permutations, there might only be 3,000,000 different number combinations selected throughout those 13,000,000 tickets. It's even possible (extremely unlikely) that there is one (or more) numbers NOT selected throughout those 13,000,000 tickets. I'm not saying your wrong, I just think it is unlikely........ |

Terminator I said this somewhere once can't remember when.
Technically would you retire for life on 6.4 million? Along with that maybe a bit of Fame? Lotto company can control the balls If this was true (which is IMpossible imho) and you worked for the lottery commission somewhere and you KNEW this was going on, no matter how much they're paying you, your telling me someone wouldn't have said anything by now? How many people would stand to make more money in the long run by going to the papers about it? It just wouldn't happen.

Yup, I remember reading something like that Danny, so I think it must have been the post your referring to. I'm not suggesting it is rigged, I think it is highly unlikely, I'm just agreeing with the point made by the initial threads post that it would (in theory), be possible to do. The reality of it happening, like you say, is near on 0%.

Secondly, I'm not actually sure WHY they would want to do it anyway? It's not as if they say "OK no jackpot this week so WE KEEP ALL THE MONEY HOORAY!!!" Errrrr, its just rolled over onto next times jackpot? |

It's funny but I've NEVER actually seen the ball drop into the pillar thing that picks it up.
Always wondered if it comes already picked from the inside of the machine. Rollover. Yeah they do gain.. Great selling point, ROLLOVER the prize is now £16 million. Look at all the adverts and stuff that comes out leading upto one. Added interest = more sales. |

Yes i do agree they are sharks it has happened before they control the balls with mercury injected some balls are heavier than others .
Today every thing is computer controlled in the last hour they set perhaps only one ball heavier to drop in and its a carry over or won by them. Guys dont be gullible we are living in 2005 i am a Genie and know all things. |

Hello, first post here.
In some ways I agree with the original poster. I'm getting sick of seeing retired school dinner lady Mrs Smug winning £5m because her psychic cat selected the numbers...and she spends it on a lifetimes supply of cat food. I'm getting fed up of matching two or more numbers on any one line even if I spend £1 or £10. Why cant I match no numbers at ALL? I just cant get that third number for the £10 win.Are Londoners c**p at selecting winning numbers or is it because were so rich we dont need to play the Lottery? ![]() Who would have thought that only one person, not two, ten or twenty, but one person would win the Christmas Eve draw? Certainly not me Last edited by Newb : 27th December 2005 at 07:15 PM. |
