Good Luck with it all Dice
A friend of mine has just started his driving lessons but only has one like every 4 weeks?
I said that is pointless you will need them more regularly then to get used to the clutch etc. He didn't believe me that the days of 10 lessons take a test have gone. I passed my test back in 2003 and even then I had about 25 lessons before the instructor said I should go for the test. I think by the time I organised my test and passed I had about 32
I failed first time but I belive in that old theory that they have to pass and fail a certain number of people a day because the run he took me on was nigh on impossible and spelt epic fail from the off. The corner he made me reverse round was ridiculas and the angle was more like 45o compared to a normal 90 I was pretty much going back on myself once I had finished the manouvere. I sometimes drive passed the same corner to this day and think who the hell would want to reverse round that
Also dont listen to Dan's use of the word coast (not sure if he meant it that way) as this is a fail. Slowing down using the brakes and then clutching to a halt is not coasting though. I was taught to always use the handbrake when stopped at traffic lights. I dont know about all this 3 second business because how would you know if the traffic lights are about to change in the next second or two. It seems like a lot of hassle now and a longer way to do it but it is the safest way and is what they expect to see when taking the test
Thanks for the advice and luck. My main problem is that I don't have access to a car I can drive regularly and get the driving experience in. I'm not sure if it's worth getting one because I don't know whether I'll need a car anyway yet. I'm just doing it to get it out of the way, plus it seems to be quite an advantage in the job market.

What i was taught to do was put the handbrake up and put it into neutral everytime you have to stop, although i dont do that now i just brake then find the bitin point so you dont roll back or nothing and makes it easier to pull away, i no this is bad for your clutch but bothered lol
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
It is true, I was lucky, My driving instructor Paul was an ex-fireman, so he used to talk alot about how to apex corners at 50mph in an 9-ton fire engine lol...
In fact, he was soo cool, it would be good to get back in touch with him just to let him know how I am doing...
