I need a new laptop. Mine has died about 3 times and each time I've managed to kind of resurrect it at the cost of some peice of hardware inside. The Graphics are fucked, the Hard Disk is fucked and the Screen is fucked (Atm using a VGA lead to plug into an old monitor.) and with my win im thinking ill take €300 of the €700 to buy a new laptop, so that I can play without being stuck in the freezing bloody cold.
With that in mind, I look to you, the technological masses that use this forum, to find me a cheap, refurbished laptop which has : 2GB Ram, and preferably a reasonable Processor of 1.6GHz or better. Hard Disk size isnt that important, even if it was just 40 or 50 it would be plenty though im sure 80 is the minimum you'll find these days.
PC World had something reasonable but anything worth getting is out of stock, and I look to you to suggest a trustworthy site that could provide something.
Thanks in advance.
Tyler.
I have one of these - perfect for poker in front of the tv
PHILIPS X59 at PC World - Buy cheap Recon Laptops - PHILIPS X59 REFURBISHED INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5500 PROCESSOR 1.6GHz
If Rod sees you playing in front of the telly he'll have your guts for garters... And thats too expensive for me really. I need it to be under £250 ideally. So i can get it for €300. :S
Dan - Thats good advice dude and Ill bear that in mind about the Intel Core Duo vs Celerons.
as always check this site out
Microdirect.co.uk is the UK leading retailer of quality computer components and electronics.
Celeron's have always been a step down, they are and always have been intel's castoffs.
Between a Celeron and Pentium think
Dairy Milk > Galaxy
Richmond > Regal
Raiser > DannyC
something along them lines...![]()

Ok I may be interested, Ive also been offered a refurbished thing from a friend of my mothers, although that would be a Tower PC. Pretty weak setup though. Let me know if you get any more info, but dont put yourself out if you cant go back on it.
Appreciate it, cheers![]()
I have a Dell D610 as well with a cracked case
I managed to scrounge another d610 though the other day with a busted motherboard. I should be able to swap the shells and have one decent laptop
Again I will let you know in a couple of days
