lol, yes. Someone told me this too. After I had turned it on, and no doubt shorted it

Yep correct.

Went through a phase of dropping my phone in the loo - first time I took it all apart, rinsed it under the tap, wrapped it in tissue and put it on top of the boiler for a few days. Absolutely fine!

Second time I did it I tried to switch it on straight away. Result: dead phone!

Had a no phone situation for a week or so recently due to a few contractual problems with O2.
Quite enjoyed it but it was very inconvenient too, especially trying to run a business! Then I though back to when I had a tyre blow out on a main road a few weeks before and had to call the police and the RAC. Stuck another sim card in the phone pretty quick; no way I want to get stuck somewhere!

I've relented and borrowed a phone to use, whilst I wait for the 3G iPhone to get back in stock.

Seem to have lost all my numbers though

Yeah most likely, unless you find a way to transfer the phone memory - not possible really if the phone is dead.
Long gone are the days when all the numbers had to be stored on the sim card...
