Default Anyone Think Football is going down the Pan?

For a while now ive started to feel football is no longer a workig class game and many normal fans are being priced out of the game they love. Ive also recognised that middlesbroughs new stadium is dogshit in terms of atmosphere compared to our old one Ayresome Park and football is becomming over hyped, i found this video and it really struck a chord.

Anyone else feel that football is dying on its arse?

Absolutely not. I was actually close to making a thread the other day saying how football has never been so great, in anticipation of the Champions' League knockout rounds. I don't really care about "real supporters". That's just an ambiguous label because they're not real football supporters at all, they support teams not football. I support football.
But I haven't got anything against them. If it weren't for them there wouldn't be football for people like me to impartially watch.

I think whoever made that video probably doesn't have a clue about terraces. I don't have a clue about them, but I can recognise when other people don;t have a clue about something. What's better? People's lives or terraces which are easily replaceable? Who gives a shit about terraces?

You have never been in a terrace therefore you can never understand why they were so good, they can be safe with the proper management. How hard is it these days to restrict a certain number of people entering a specific place? Do you go to matches often diceman?

I havent been for ages. Some people were discussing going to see Bristol Rovers at some point but they are lazy and won't organise it.
I've only ever been to Villa games (as well as the teams they're playing obviously), every time in the Holt End which is where the general Villa atmosphere is.

Well ur a Villa fan and dont go that often so this may not apply to you that much (but it still does). When you compare moving from one ground to a new one you will often find increased ticket prices to pay for the bastard thing and overly strict stewards thinking they are robo cop. The increased ticket prices mean you miss out on two generations of supporters; the old who cannot offord it and the young whos parents cannot offord to take them, not to mention to decreasing numer of working class people who cannot afford to attend anymore who IMO show far more loyalty when things are not going well (like getting relegated) and make more noise at matches adding to atmosphere. By stumping up the prices you inevitably get the "prawn sandwhich" brigade and its shocking. Next time your at a match find an old timer and ask them whether they enjoyed going to matches when there was terraces more than they do now and i know what response you will get. Dont get me wrong the standard of football is immense however i would now prefer to watch it in a pub or at home than stump a big chunk of my hard earned cash

I'm not a Villa fan. I am a faker lol. It was great seeing Liverpool knock Villa out of the Woorthington Cup. I just went because it was the nearest Premiership side and usually only saw them play the big teams. I suppose ticket prices are pretty expensive, but to be fair we get loads more cash for doing easier stuff nowadays anyway. If you're only interested in watching any old crap football for cheap just go and watch a conference side.

Youre not really a proper fan then and IMO shouldnt really start debating whether attending football games has become worse, but hey thats just my opinion

No "we" do not, im from an area were most people are not well off however before the big sky boom, these people could still afford to attend football matches on the weekend, and if you are a parent and have 2 or 3 kids then you are paing nearly £100 just to attend, this is before travel and refreshments, kits and programs
