Another addictive game. It's a bit like risk but probably better. The only drawback is that you don't get to choose where you put your dice.

Also 6-8 player is probably easier than 2 player.

I like it. Nice, simple addictive.

    My tips for this game:

-try to establish a piece of land close to the start which can be easily defended. You only need about 4.

-don't use a big stack to go marauding through the whole map like the computer does. This leaves all of your territories very vulnerable with no big stacks left to protect them.

-take note of your borders and how many enemy stacks are neighbouring them, and what stacks are in those territories.

-the computer quite likes to scythe through all your weak lands which can divide your empire. Therefore try to have strong stacks on all of your borders...

-except (advanced play), if you have a huge stack miles away from the action you can leave a trail of short stacks to your border. The computer will take them all and allow your enormous army to take them back and go further. You might like to use this big stack to defend your border.

-sometimes the computer nation will skip a turn and just reload on dice. If you have more territories than that nation then you should do the same, since your army will only grow at a faster rate than theirs. If there's 2-4 nations left it's very important to ensure you have the most territory, although don't go so far you leave your whole empire open to attack.

-when advancing, don't go so far that you stop on a border with a stack that dominates yours, since they will just take it all back. If you stop on a border with a stack with only one die in it, they can't attack you there next turn. By the time they can attack you you'll have more big stacks ready to fight back with.

-if there are 2-3 nations left (inc. you) and your empire is at full saturation (every territory has 8 dice) you should calculate how many invasions you can make and still acheive full saturation for next turn. e.g. if it says you have 18 dice for next turn, you can afford to attack (and lose the fight against) two territories, since each loss will cost you 7 dice. Any win is a bonus.

-sometimes the enemy will have positioned themselves in an area that can only be seiged from one territory. But that territory may border with 3 other of their territories. So if you take it they will get 3 chances to take it back. As long as you have a bigger empire than them then you will statistically eventually take it. Sometimes it is worth gambling attacking an 8-dicer with a 7-dicer if you can afford to lose (have the dice next turn).

-if you have two mini-empires it's important to build a bridge between them, since this will increase your number of dice significantly for next turn. If the enemy keeps cutting your empire into two you need to take that land back every turn. However if the computer is dominating you you may have to sacrifice the weaker section and concentrate on taking more of the enemy's land elsewhere. Always look for sections of enemy lands that are poorly defended.

-the big difference between you and the computer should be that you're more patient. Sometimes the computer will launch a huge assault and take 2/3 of your land. Often this will be your chance since they won't have the stacks to defend all that land and your remaining big stacks will take them out.
