And I thought was alreet. I went with the wife and she had been told by someone else who had seen it that they had nearly wet themselves laughing, but I wouldn't go that far.

It's split into 2 parts with the premise that Ollie from Legz Akimbo has been put in charge of setting up the Royston Vasey Panto and spends the first half auditioning various characters in preparation for the second half which is the actual panto.

The first half really is quick fire costume and character changes and just illustrates how many memorable characters the 3 leads have available to them. It is very clever but just every now and then you wish that someone would stay a bit longer as you soon realise that every character only gets one outing and once they've gone, they're gone!

I though the second half was better, with all the major characters, Pauline and Micky, Tubbs and Edward, and Papa Lazarou appearing more than once, (along with my favourite character, the pot hole guide Mick McNamara) to keep the story going. I wont bother you with the plot, but it does travel along familiar fairy tale/panto lines albeit with a course of completely black humour to go with it.

The production had a few sound problems, and I'm not convinced the bit involving a female member of the audience, Dr Chinnery, and the back end of a cow went totally to plan.... (I will leave it to your imagination) but it was an enjoyable evening.

First half was about 45 minutes long, and the second half slightly longer, so you dont end up bored or with a sore bum.
