Wink Student Research Project - Gambling Environment Investigation

    Hey Guys

I am a Final year design student and Loughborough University, United Kingdom and I am conducting a research investigation into the ‘Gambling Environment’ for my final year project. My main aim throughout this project, aside from attempting to identify any issues with standard gambling protection, is to help raise awareness to how players could potentially cheat; as well as precautions and systems that can be put in place to improve security.

I am focusing on how games are protected and therefore researching advances in gambling protection in Casinos through to smaller gambling games or tournaments performed at clubs or Universities.

Therefore I wonder if anyone with any experience related to this could spare minute or two to either to help answer or point me in the right direction for any of the small questions listed below - referring to particular game rules and security measures. I am currently attempting searching gambling forums, such as the Card Shark Blog etc. for advice and therefore welcome any suggestions of good forums to collect useful information

I appreciate any time you have to answer any of these queries thank you very much for your kind assistance:

    1) Reason Blackjack still has multiple decks - From asking a few dealers and casino personal I know off, they explained how Blackjack compared to Poker games still have 6-8 decks dealt for a card shoe of automatic shuffler/shoe; compared to poker where only one deck is in play. However I still struggle to understand why such equipment that thoroughly shuffles a single deck every hand in poker to prevent shuffle tracking and/or possible calculation of hands, does not replace multiple deck games?

A friend of mine explained how Poker such as Texas Hold' Em is an example of Soft gaming and therefore (in some cases) the player can actually deal and take turns), compared to hard gambling like 5 card stud etc. But surely the shuffle must happen eventually so I was wondering if you happened to know the reason 6/8 card deck shoes are still the preference when several automated shufflers mixed a single deck to nullify shuffle tracking?
Examples of Shufflers I've seen by Shuffle Master

    2) If there is any way Casinos or gambling clubs currently check for possibly marking of cards, that I have researched into i.e. Invisible Luminous inks or N-Daub (which I have read about on Cardshark Blog)?

    3) I have researched into several supposed luminous and video luminous marking for cards in Texas Hold’ Em and other games, like Texas Holdem and Omaha Independent Analysis Device--marked cards magic dice playing poker at cheating juice cards - at 'King Magic'
Where the equipment seems to be able to read the card from marking on the side of the deck (i.e. the edges of the cards). Are you currently aware if this is actually possible and if could possible point me in the direction of any information regarding how casinos or gambling clubs could prevent this, I would be very grateful.

    4) Is there any current equipment of light which can stop the ability for marked cards to be read? Obviously there would be practicality issues, but purely for theory - I am aware several luminous inked cards available can be viewed at 280-300 nm, is there a light source that can nullify the ink from being read with cheat who have specially tinted glasses or contacts?

Appreciate your time in this matter and am very grateful for any information that can help out - Thanks a lot.

The main reason casinos use 6-8 decks of cards in the shoe is to prevent card counting, the most common form of cheating at Blackjack.

There is no Law against card counting So card counting is not " cheating ".

It's not STRICTLY cheating, but the casinos do not like you doing it & can bar you for it.
