Default Some thoughts ...

Hi guys,

Some questions.
What's the possibility that 5 numers next to eachother don't come up in let's say 40 spins?
I know it is possible, but can we express this in terms of percentages or once in xxx.xxx plays?
Lately I've done some work on determing cold and hot spots in the roulette wheel, in fact In two times was able to predict 5 out of 6 spins, which I find very interesting! I've now played around 6 sessions in 3 days, about 5 hours of playing time. Lost 2 sessions of $100 and won 4 sessions. My initial bankoll was $ 150 now it is $ 1500. How long has anyone won here till they found out things didn't work out on the long run? Would love to see some figures about that!

Thnx,

Statgeek

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's 5.40/1 against = 18.5%

37/5 = Chance of 1 of the 5 numbers hitting = 1 in 7.4 spins.
40 spins / 7.4 = 5.4

Not sure if that's right, but it sounds reasonable because in 37 spins your 5 numbers would hit once each on average. So in 37 spins the odds are 5 to 1 against them not hitting (I think!)

Hmm that's a lot! I mean 5 in the wheel next to eachother, that's about the same as on the table I guess. In an average spin how many unique numbers will come up, do you know that?

One number. If the ball splits and lands on 2 numbers you should probably leave that casino...

Dice Man to the rescue!

Probability = (32/37)^40

= 0.3%

LOL at KK's answer of 18.5%, and then justification for it. In 40 spins you will average 5.4 of those numbers. That means that getting 0 of them is very unlikely.

Here is a graph.

I declare this thread...

Thanks dice man, that sounds better
As I was testing with my own written roulette analysis script,
I noticed that it rarely happens, so thank you for calculating that for me!

How many unique spins will come up in a series of 37 spins? Not sure how to calculate that one. I'd guess somewhere between 20-25.

How many spins will come up in 37 spins...? Now who's failed!!

I did say I thought I might be wrong.
I don't usually have a problem working out how often something will happen, but when it comes to how often something wont happen I get totally lost!

Oh well, back to school for me then!
