Default Betting on just one number

Hi guys,
so I used to play roulette on a virtual game that I played using currency there and my method was simply bet on 1 number and if it doesn't come up in 35 times you double your bet and so on and so on, and this made me very rich on the game, however I was wondering if any of you guys have tried this in real money roulette and how did you get on?

That's a very interesting theory and I could actually see that working!
I think most peoples problem with it would be the amount of patience required.

You didn't say what your 'cut-off' number of spins is, so I quickly ran some figures for up to 100 spins, and in order to ensure you never have a losing spin you would have to bet like this:-
35 spins @ 1 chip
18 spins @ 2 chips
18 spins @ 4 chips
18 spins @ 8 chips
11 spins @ 16 chips

If your number didn't hit in those 100 spins you would lose 463 chips.
The chance of your number not hitting (single zero roulette) is 2.7/1 against.
Your smallest gain (at any point in the 100 spins) would be 1 chip.
Your average gain would be 49.5 chips.
Your biggest gain would be 273 chips (the first spin with 16 chips).

So yeah, if you reckon your number will always hit once in every 100 spins you could be on to a winner.
But just remember the law of sod!

Why would you have to bet only 18 spins on the second go, because you would be in profit every spin still up to 35 i believe

Because a 2 chip spin will return you 72 chips, yes?
35 spins x 1 chip = 35 chips lost
18 spins x 2 chips = 36 chips lost

35 + 36 = 71 chips lost - so you would gain 1 chip if your number hit on the 53rd spin ( 35+18 ).
After that you start losing unless you incease your bets.

ah i see yer, thanks.

I was thinking that doubling the bet would cover the 35 loss first round and then act as a 1 chip spin profit up to 35 spins.

I think this strategy is risky as one number can decide not to show for even 200 spins.

One number can "decide not to show" for the most infinite amount of time imaginable. Its just about the odds and a reasonable rate of return.

I think this idea is pretty good.

Yes it can decide not to appear for over 200 spins, but it can also decide to appear 10+ times in 200 spins making you a shitload, its about whether you want to risk it or not
