fair point that you don't want to "punish" people who play in the lower attended games but the way it is at the moment it's the people who turn up at the "busier" games that are being punished.

Take for example this month. It's been a good month for the league even though the world cup has been on. There's a lot of points about and a lot of people chasing them because of the extra incentives put forward by Mike. However, is it really fair that come the final there could quite conceivably be 5-10 people out of the 60 (17% of the field) that have only competed against a maximum field of 10?

However, that's by the by and I would presume things will be changing in the near future. The one thing I would also say is that surely events that only attract 10 maximum won't last the course anyway. If I was a landlord I wouldn't be paying the nightly rate for too long as it wouldn't be worth it. As far as the "survival" of the LPL goes, I would also put a higher price on the people that attend the larger fields than the smaller ones, and if I was one of the people who just miss out on the top 60 this month because there are people in the top 60 that have gained 600 points for winning a tournament with 3 entrants I would be less than pleased. If it were to continue I think you might run the risk of losing those people and then you could find all venues only attracting 10-15 people, which really would be a blow to the league.

Plus, the extra points won't change things so dramatically in favour of the the larger fields but it will help. Lets say you win a tournament with 30 entrants, and the bonus scheme is 10 points per player. That's 600+300 = 900. Then you win a tournament with 10 entrants (you could say it's 3 times easier to win) you would get 600+100 = 700. That's only 200 points more for the win against 3 x the competition. You're more likely to get higher in the points on a regular basis in the smaller fields than you are in the larger ones so the smaller fields will still probably gaining a lot of points. However it would just make it a little closer than it is at the moment.

Of course, if the smaller venues could attract more people then we wouldn't have this problem and the LPL really would go from strength to strength.

As it goes, I'm sure people enjoy playing as well as getting into the final, but if the LPL is to grow these little lines need to be ironed out.

One other thing, Mike, I'm pretty sure if you look through this thread completely someone changed their mind on the vote. They had originally put down 5 bonus points but changed it to 10, therefore the vote is slightly misleading at the moment as it should read 9 votes for 10 bonus points and 7 for 5.

I've been blabering on, sorry. Nothing to do at work but talk bollox !!!
